San Antonio Westin La Cantera Hotel Room

Planning a trip to San Antonio?

Earlier this summer I shared photos of the Hyatt Regency Hill Country and now I’ve got the scoop on the rooms at the also super family-friendly Westin La Cantera. (I know this post is just supposed to have the pics, but I also just have to mention something else: The staff at the Westin is absolutely amazing and extremely helpful. For example: rather than just point me in the right direction, one employee walked me clear across the hotel when I was turned around. Also, everyone that works there just seemed so genuinely happy, and wanted me to be happy, too. LOVED that!!!)

The Hyatt might be closer to Sea World, but the Westin is closer to Fiesta Texas. Decisions, decisions! Both are very accommodating to families and luxurious.

I’ll try to share about the grounds and amenities later, but for now, here’s what you can expect from a double room at the Westin La Cantera:

No, my friend’s adorable daughter does not come with the room…

…And neither does my friend or my son.

The balcony in this room was a great spot to watch the fireworks from Fiesta Texas one night we were there.

Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa Hotel Room

Interested in what the hotel rooms at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio, Texas looks like?

I was just there with my family this weekend and stayed in a ADA-compliant Double room with a walk in shower. Here’s what it looked like:

You can see my husband walking out onto the balcony, where the kids were already checking out the surroundings and making bird calls (or something like that).

I ushered them all back into the room so I could take this picture:

The balcony looks smaller in this photo than it actually feels.

Here’s a view from the other side of the room:

This time my husband was lounging a bit.

You can see on the right side that this room has a bit of an entryway before you reach the room from the hotel hallway. That area features a closet and countertop vanity. The bathroom entrance is over there on the left side of the photo:

While we are at the hotel I was told that the property will be undergoing a major renovation this fall (2012) to update the rooms. They do have a bit of an older feel in terms of decoration, but nothing uncomfortable or obviously in need of change. I’m excited to see what they will do with the facelift, as I can only imagine it will be gorgeous!

The rooms already are quite spacious, which is perfect when you are lugging baby gear or even just kid gear!

FREE Storytimes & FREE Kids Lunch Tuesdays in July At IKEA Houston

While you are there, look for the 13 indoor, air-conditioned locations throughout the zoo to chill out and relax away from the Houston heat.  The animals enjoy Chill Out-themed enrichment activities that keep them happy and cooled off, too. From ice-pops for the bears, to daily baths for the elephants, the zoo takes care of the animals to keep them cool all summer long.

DINOSAURS! at the Houston Zoo
